Bodega Exopto was founded in 2003 by a French winemaker Tom Puyaubert, in Rioja Alavesa, Spain. Tom owns and manages 22 hectares of vines over 30 separate plots, offering different soils and microclimates that favour the various permitted grape varietals: Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha, Viura and Malvasia. The winery produces blends and single varietals with a focus is on quality obtained from old vines with an average age 60+ years, careful vineyard management, including the use of only horse drawn vehicles in the vineyard and appropriate use of ageing in oak and cement vats.
Horizonte de Exopto Blanco is produced from 85% Viura, 10% Malvasi, & 5% Ganacha Blanca, displays a light gold colour, the nose is floral with hints of lemon citrus, pear and apricots. In the mouth there are white stone fruits with hints of oak spice flavours the wine is quite full, but with a lovely refreshing acidity and a long fruit filled finish.
