Wine description: The Thienpont family name has been associated with greatness in Bordeaux for many years, more notably in the Right Bank Appellations of St Emilion and Pomerol. Luc Thienpont however, found his home on the Left Bank and in particular, Margaux, having taken Chateau Labergoce Zede from near obscurity to one of Bordeaux rising stars, it was a surprise to many when he sold the property and embarked on a new project at Chateau Tayac Plaisance and part of that project is the "Z“ de Bordeaux. The vineyard is a 8,5 hectare single plot of alluvium soil overlooking the Gironde river on the edge of Margaux. Produced from 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 60% Merlot & 10% Petit Verdot, the wine displays a dark ruby red colour, a nose of red cherry and blackberry fruits with a slight hint of spice. In the mouth the wine is nicely balanced with red fruits, fine medium tannins and a good freshness. The finish is fruity and quite long.
